Our Publishing Structure
This is the structure everything we publish runs on: a DNA model. Two strands, held together by a set of bases in between. Nothing stands alone here — every piece connects to something else.
It works from the leanest read to the broadest — a quick pass, a fuller one, the full account. It treats every subject as something alive, with a past, a present, and a future, not something said once and then left. The language follows the same rule. Nothing here is fixed once and overlooked.
This page shows what the strands are and what they produce. Why they exist belongs on another page — Publishing Theory. This one just shows the shape.
The Two Strands
Editorial Traces — Happening, Opinion, News This is the track a story runs on. It can still be unfolding, it can be someone's stated view, or it can be settled as the best record we have.
Subjective Traces — At a Glance, On the Stride, In the Journal This is how much a reader takes in. A quick read, a fuller read, or the full account.
The Bases Between Them
Resource Bases — Meta Base, Literature Base, Knowledge Base These connect the two strands. Every term, claim, and record we work from lives here, linking an Editorial Trace to the matching Subjective Trace. A term isn't just defined and left on its own page — when a post uses it, the post has to show that word at work, and what in the post backs it up.
What It Produces
The two strands and the bases between them aren't just structure — together they make something. Open Journalism, Uncover Senses, ProClaim Rights aren't a third strand. They're what the structure produces once it reaches the public: public speaking, public question, public charter.
The Three Levels
The two strands connect at three points, and each one produces its own result:
- Base level — Happening + Meta Base + At a Glance → produces Open Journalism The starting point. Still unfolding, still undefined, quick — and open.
- Middle level — Opinion + Literature Base + On the Stride → produces Uncover Senses The working-through point. Someone's view, developed further, fuller — and questioned.
- Top level — News + Knowledge Base + In the Journal → produces ProClaim Rights The settled point. Verified, reasoned, complete — and chartered.
How This Gets Used
Articles don't repeat this structure — they're tagged into it. A base, a track, a level, and, only when it's earned, a result from Live Social Purge. This page exists so tagging has something to follow. Every article doesn't need to explain it again.
This also means not everyone has to write long. One writer can put a subject in a single page; another can only manage a few lines. The structure holds room for both — a short post and a longer one, neither less complete than the other — because it runs from leanest to broadest by design, not by exception.
